Mulled wine has been around since the 2nd century, originally created by the Romans who heated wine to help defend their bodies against cold winters.

The English started to call it “mulled wine” in the 1600s. For centuries now, it has become a popular winter drink. There are many recipes for mulled wine and it is called different names depending on the country of origin.

This recipe is easy and fun to make while you’re decorating your home for the holidays! Plus, your home will smell amazing 😀

Mulled Wine Recipe

1 bottle red wine – We recommend using one of our new red blends, Peace or Joy
4 cups apple cider
¼ cup honey
2 cinnamon sticks
3 star anise
4 whole cloves
Zest and juice of one orange
Orange slices for garnish

Bring all to boil, then let simmer for 10 minutes before serving.
Serves 8.
This spiced mulled wine is wonderful when paired with your favourite blue cheese, aged cheddar, or something nutty like gruyere.
