The Music, Song, and Dances of Italy!

The Carnival in Venice, is a type of masquerade that is very popular in Italy People dress in Venetian costumes and

masks. It is said that the Carnival of Venice was started in the year 1162. In the honour of a victory, the people started to dance and gathering the streets. In the Renaissance period the Aristocrats developed the Italian Renaissance dance, and brought it to the Royal court.

Opera was also brought to court, and this began the romance with opera through the centuries. There were also travelling bards who brought Commedia dell’arte to Italy. This performing art incorporated, dance, comedy, and singing, with special stock characters like Harlequin, Columbina, and Pantelone. Mandolins evolved from the lute family in Italy during the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries, and this music produced particularly in Naples became very popular til today.

In Celebration of ITALY, Vinoscenti Vineyards presents Italian music, song and dance. The music of the mandolin will be featured throughout the day. The Venetian Water Opera Duo will perform Opera arias and duets in Venetian Masks and Costume. Interactive lessons in Italian Renaissance dance will also be featured, bring your masks and dress in costume

if you like. We will also have a few Commedia dell’arte performances.

Vinoscenti Vineyards reserves to change the entertainment schedule and performances as circumstances dictate.
